What is a Christian?
Hi,
I'm Adam Thompson, founder & owner of Thompson Outdoor Supply. I'm
a devoted Christian, & since you were open-minded enough to click
to this page, I'd like to share just a little with you about what that
means.
There is alot of confusion out there about what a Christian really is.
So, instead of adding my opinions to the confusion, I just want to
quote some relevant passages from the Bible, direct from the mouth of
God.
What does one have
to do to be a Christian?
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house." Acts 16:31
"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall
believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall
be saved." Romans 10:9
Saved from what???
Romans chapters 1 & 2 make it clear that: A) We are all sinners
& evil compared to God & His standards, & B) God is going
to punish us for that.
"Those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them,
think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in
Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish."
In Revelations 20:15, God revealed in a vision what will happen after
the end of this world: "And whosoever was not found written in the book
of life was cast into the lake of fire."
So, where is the
good news?????
"For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from
the lowest hell. Psalms 86:13
"Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
[appeasement] through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness
for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of
God."
Jesus said: "In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so,
I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:3-4
In Summary:
We are all sinners compared to God & his standards
Our just punishment is eternal orture in hell
Christ Jesus paid the punishment for our sins
To be saved from your punishment for sin, you must "Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ".
